SKINCLUSION Ambassador Priyanka Chopra Jonas Talks Diversity, Inclusion and Unconscious Bias

SKINCLUSIONTM is a Global Awareness Initiative from Obagi® Celebrating Diversity and Inclusion

Focuses on Need for People to Recognize and Address Their Own Unconscious Bias – Specifically Surrounding Skin Tone

Everyone possesses unconscious or implicit bias, but the majority of us are not aware of its impact on our thoughts and actions. Unconscious bias refers to the attitudes or stereotypes that affect our understanding, actions and decisions in an unconscious manner.

SKINCLUSIONTM, a new campaign from Obagi®, is looking to create a global dialogue about the need for people around the world to recognize and address their own unconscious bias, specifically surrounding skin tone. While unintentional, unconscious bias reflects deeply engrained stereotypes and can create “blind spots” that prevent us from seeing the beautiful humanity we all share.

SKINCLUSIONTM Ambassador, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, discusses:

– Why this campaign is personal to her

– The importance of fighting for inclusion and celebrating diversity

– How she supports brands that align with her own values

– The SKINCLUSIONTM  campaign and how your audience can get involved

Obagi® is a female-led global skin care brand with a 30-year history of providing scientifically proven skin care products and a commitment to diversity and inclusion in all aspects of its business – including clinical research. Priyanka has been dedicated to fighting for inclusion and diversity over the course of her 20-year career and believes in supporting brands that align with her values.

Story Description

SKINCLUSIONTM is an initiative celebrating diversity and inclusion, which is very dear to my heart. It was developed by Obagi®, a skin care brand with more than 30 years’ experience researching products on all six skin types, including mine. I love the way their Pro-C products make my skin look and I’m excited to partner with a brand that aligns with my values.

SKINCLUSIONTM seeks to create a global dialogue about the need for all of us to make conscious choices to see the beauty in all of our differences. It helps us address our own unconscious bias which can create blind spots that can hurt and divide us.

Visit Skinclusion.com to join me in this conversation and to learn more.

Obagi’s SKINCLUSIONTM is a global awareness initiative that celebrates diversity and inclusion, and encourages us all to recognize and address our own unconscious bias, specifically surrounding skin tone. Unconscious bias affects nearly everyone, but the majority of us are not aware of its impact on our thoughts and actions.

Recognizing our own bias allows us to challenge it, overcome it, and ultimately, create a world where diversity is celebrated. Obagi is a conscious, global skin care company with a 30-year legacy and a commitment to diversity and inclusion in all aspects of their business – from their culture to product development. Burberry February 2018 Show – London Fashion Week

‘TIME’

REFLECTING THE PAST, CELEBRATING THE PRESENT, HERALDING THE FUTURE

LONDON, UK – 17 February 2018 – Burberry tonight celebrated ‘Time’, Christopher Bailey’s final collection for the brand, against a multisensory installation that forms part of a new collaboration with United Visual Artists (UVA).

‘Our Time’, a piece of work on loan from the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) in Australia, investigates the subjective experience of the passing of time through movement, light and sound, and was reimagined in collaboration with Christopher, to provide the backdrop to the runway collection. The installation’s pendulums swung to their own rhythm in time to the show’s soundtrack by Jimmy Somerville, The Communards and Bronski Beat.

Models including past and present campaign stars Adwoa Aboah, Jean Campbell, Montell Martin and Edie Campbell – who appeared in her first Burberry campaign in 2006 – revealed the collection, which revisited past icons and house codes, including the trench coat, the aviator, the cape, the poncho and the military coat as well as introduced new designs.

The Rainbow check, the latest iteration of Burberry’s most iconic symbol and designed as part of Christopher’s dedication of his last collection to LGBTQ+ communities, featured throughout the show. A capsule of reissued archive pieces from the 1980s and 1990s rereleased as part of this collection is now available for immediate purchase.

Cara Delevingne, discovered by Christopher and Burberry over seven years ago, closed the show and led the finale as models walked under a spectrum of rainbow laser lights.

Over 1300 guests attended to watch the show including close Burberry friends and family including Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Keira Knightley, Zendaya Coleman, Naomi Watts, Michelle Dockery, Naomie Harris, Iris Law, Lily James, Matt Smith, Jourdan Dunn, Kate Mara, Idris Elba, Domhnall Gleeson, Tom Holland, Paris Jackson, James Righton, Zhou Dongyu, Chelsea Clinton, Nicholas Hoult, Poppy Delevingne, Alexa Chung, George Ezra, James Bay, Paloma Faith, Liam Gallagher, Skepta, Tinie Tempah, Tom Odell, Jorja Smith, Blondey McCoy, Gosha Rubchinskiy, Lucy Moore, Matt Clark, Jamie Bell, Tessa Thompson, Anya Taylor-Joy, Koharu Sugawara, Daphne Guinness, Stephen Jones, Mason Lee, Law Roach, Ji Woo Choi, Steve McQueen and Angela Ahrendts.

‘My final collection here at Burberry is dedicated to – and in support of – some of the best and brightest organisations supporting LGBTQ+ youth around the world. There has never been a more important time to say that in our diversity lies our strength, and our creativity.’

Christopher Bailey, Burberry President and Chief Creative Officer.

Burberry premiered ‘The Tale of Thomas Burberry’ today, a new campaign that kicks off the Christmas season for the brand.

Written by Matt Charman and directed by Asif Kapadia,‘The Tale of Thomas Burberry’ comprises a three-minute cinematic trailer, which reimagines key events that have shaped the company’s history and values.

The Cast

Domhnall Gleeson stars as Burberry founder Thomas Burberry

Sienna Miller stars as Thomas’s fictional first love.

Dominic West plays Sir Ernest Shackleton, the pioneering polar explorer who wore Burberry gabardine for three Antarctic expeditions.

Lily James stars as pilot Betty Dawson, a fictionalised character inspired by the real life achievements of Betty Kirby-Green, who broke the world record in 1937 for a return flight from England to Cape Town in an aeroplane named ‘The Burberry’.

Real life moments re-enacted in the film include Thomas’s invention of the weatherproof fabric gabardine, dressing the military, and outfitting polar explorers and pilots.

Shot primarily at Shirburn Castle in Oxfordshire, the location served as the backdrop for the faithfully recreated First World War trenches, and Thomas’s workshop inspired by materials in the Burberry Archive. Replica gabardine tents, made at Burberry’s Castleford factory in Yorkshire, were created for the exploration scenes.
