Microsoft Unveils the Future of Console Gaming with Xbox Series X

Debuted at The Game Awards in Los Angeles, CA on Thursday and Available Holiday 2020, Xbox Series X will set a new bar for power, performance, speed and compatibility. 

On Thursday, Dec. 12 at The Game Awards in Los Angeles, CA, an event to celebrate the latest achievements made across the gaming industry, Microsoft unveiled the future of gaming with Xbox Series X (previously codenamed Project Scarlett), coming Holiday 2020. 

Phil Spencer, Head of Xbox, spoke about the future of console gaming and how Xbox Series X will be Microsoft’s fastest, most powerful console ever and set a new bar for performance, speed and compatibility. Additional details about the new Xbox console include:

– Xbox Series X will deliver a new level of fidelity and immersion unlike anything that’s been achieved in previous console generations    

– With Xbox Series X, you’ll be able to play thousands of your favorite games across four generations of gaming 

– You can also expect compatibility with your Xbox One gaming accessories and industry-leading services like Xbox Game Pass to be available when you power on your Xbox Series X in Holiday 2020

– Microsoft also gave a first look at the unique design of Xbox Series X, which packs four times the processing power of Xbox One X in the most quiet and efficient way

  Xbox Series X supports both vertical and horizontal orientation 

The possibilities of what Xbox Series X enables developers to achieve was brought to life at The Game Awards with the unveil of “Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II,” a sequel to the award-winning “Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice” from world-renowned developers Ninja Theory, being built to fully leverage the power of Xbox Series X. The footage showed was captured in engine and reflects the possibilities of how developers will be able to use the power of Xbox Series X to deliver games in new ways to fans.

Minecraft Earth, the new augmented reality mobile game, is celebrating its release rollout with a one-of-a-kind experience that brings the game to life. “Mobs in the Park” are hitting the streets of New York City, London and Sydney with pop-up events featuring a customized adventure with life-sized statues where players can get their hands on exclusive access to the all-new Jolly Llama mob, in-game, before it’s globally available in December.

Minecraft Earth is a free-to-play augmented reality game for mobile that brings the creative nature of Minecraft to the real world. The early access version is now available in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, South Korea, Philippines, Sweden, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and Iceland.

The pop-up events will be at Hudson Yards, New York City, The Queen’s Walk, London, and Campbell’s Cove in Sydney for three consecutive weekends (November 16-December 1).

LOS ANGELES, USA –  Highlights from the Xbox E3 Briefing held on June 9, 2019 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

From the thousands of Xbox games in development, Xbox showcased of the 60 most anticipated coming to Xbox One and PC.

Fans were treated to a preview of Gears 5, the biggest game of 2019.

Keanu Reeves surprised the crowd by showing up to promote his appearance in upcoming game Cyberpunk 2077.

Microsoft announced further expansion of Xbox Game Studios with the addition of Double Fine Productions, the maker of Brütal Legend and Broken Age. Double Fine Productions is currently working on the long-awaited Psychonauts 2.

Xbox revealed the future of gaming with Project Scarlett, a new console set to launch alongside Halo Infinite in 2020. Thousands of games across four console generations will look and play best on Project Scarlett.

Xbox Game Pass is the leading games subscription service. At the briefing, Xbox unveiled Xbox Game Pass for PC which will offer PC gamers a curated library of more than 100 PC titles. Xbox launched Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which combines Xbox Game Pass for Console, Xbox Game Pass for PC and Xbox Live Gold in an all-in-one plan for gamers wanting the best value.

The Xbox Briefing included Xbox’s plans to enable people to play games wherever they want, using the cloud: Project xCloud, which empowers people to stream games everywhere they want to play; and console streaming, which will empower people to stream their entire Xbox One game library from their console while on the go, for free. Both will be available in preview starting in October.

Xbox unveiled the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, the world’s most advanced controller, which features 30 new and improved features.

In less than 20 years, the number of gamers in the world has more than tripled. Over 2 billion people now play, and gaming is popular, in every region and on every continent.

Microsoft Doubles its Game Development Studios and Showcases More Than 50 Games on E3 Stage Including 18 Console Launch Exclusives and 15 World Premieres

LOS ANGELES, USA – Xbox kicked off the 2018 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) with the Xbox E3 Briefing on Sunday, June 10.

The 2018 Xbox E3 Briefing was the largest in Microsoft Corp.’s history with more than 6,000 people, including more than 1,000 fans, invited to attend in the Microsoft Theater. Microsoft announced it is doubling its game development studios and showcased a record 52 games on stage including 18 console launch exclusives and 15 world premieres. The diverse lineup included games for every type of player, from exclusives like “Forza Horizon 4,” “Halo Infinite” and “Gears 5,” and independent titles like “Session,” “Below,” “Ashen” and “Tunic” to some of the biggest blockbuster games coming in the next year like “Fallout 76,” “Tom Clancy’s The Division 2,” “Kingdom Hearts 3,” “Devil May Cry 5,” “Battlefield V,” “Metro Exodus” and “Shadow of the Tomb Raider,” many enhanced to take advantage of the power of Xbox One X.

Microsoft announced it is adding five new creative teams to the Microsoft Studios family. New investments include the formation of a brand-new studio, The Initiative, the acquisition of Playground Games, and letters of intent to acquire Ninja Theory, Undead Labs and Compulsion Games.

The addition of these creative teams reinforces Microsoft’s vision for gaming, which starts with a deep commitment to original content. The company is developing a portfolio of games on every device, including newly announced Microsoft Studios games. Revealed on stage were three new Gears of War titles — “Gears 5,” “Gears Tactics,” “Gears Pop!” — along with “Battletoads,” “Forza Horizon 4” and “Halo Infinite,” a Master Chief story and the next major release in the franchise built from the ground up on the new Slipspace engine.

Microsoft Premieres Xbox One X, The World’s Most Powerful Console

LOS ANGELES, USA –  Sunday, June 11 marked a milestone Xbox E3 Briefing as Microsoft Corp. unveiled the world’s most powerful console, Xbox One X (formerly code-named “Project Scorpio”) and its largest and most diverse games line up in E3 history. Satellite feeds with footage from the Xbox E3 2017 Media Briefing will include the latest news, announcements, sound bites, fan footage and gameplay footage from Xbox.

Broadcast for the first time in 4K UHD on Mixer, Xbox showcased a record 42 games in its briefing including 22 with console exclusivity from creators large and small. Coming to all Xbox One markets starting Nov. 7, Xbox One X will retail for $499, 449 pounds, 499 euros, CA$599 and AU$649.

Xbox One X was designed to be the best console to create and play games on, putting the greatest graphic fidelity in the hands of the world’s best game creators to create true 4K games. Head of Xbox Phil Spencer underscored that every game will play great across the Xbox One family, and Xbox One X also makes your existing library even better, with better textures, smoother framerates and faster load times.

Xbox One is the only console system designed to play the best games of the past, present and future.
